Food. Thoughtfully Sourced. Carefully Served. , the Hyatt’s new kids menu philosphy promoting healthy people, a healthy planet, and healthy communities.
A couple of days ago I had the pleasure to spend the afternoon down at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay. Myself, my two daughters and two nephews got to devour their delicious new kids menu, hang out at the pool and spend special time together before school started!
The Hyatt Regency Mission Bay is revamping their kids menus across the Hyatt board! Alice Waters from Chez Panisse and Haile Thomas, a 12 year old chef, is taking the “eat local” and health movement to hotel kids menus.
From a gorgeous Breakfast Smoothie with organic yogurt and strawberries, a Sunbutter, Jelly and Banana Sandwich with whole grain bread and fresh strawberries, to a prefixed menu (just like the adults) with Romaine Lettuce Heart Salad, Grilled Chicken with Pesto Sauce, and Orange & Strawberry Compote in an Orange Cup!
My kid friends and I watched Chef Danny Bannister cook, with the help of some eager chefs-to-be, while we devoured the deliciousness of the new pre-fixed menu created by Chef Alice Waters.
Alice Waters believes: “All children deserve to eat real food.” She wanted to do a “small, three-course meal, within the context of Hyatt’s initiative, that could be sourced exclusively from organic farms across the country.”
The kids I brought really liked the food. It was a nice change from the chicken nuggets and hot dogs of the normal kids menu. Not only did they try the food, but they ate it. I stand by my personal philosophy, that if a kids is hungry, he will eat. But I think I am going to add to that– when a kids is given real, unprocessed food and they are hungry, they will eat.
After our yummy lunch, we were all treated with bags of goodies and the option to check out the Hyatt’s pool and water slides! We had a blast of an afternoon! Thank you Hyatt!
