Last Saturday I hosted a bridal shower for my sister at The Barrel Room in Rancho Bernardo. Nestled in Northern San Diego County, RB is close to the many inland wineries and tasting rooms. What better place to have a wine bar showcasing all the delicious wine that is available at our finger tips?!
The Barrel Room Vintage Wine Bar and Bistro is North County’s only retail, wine bar, and full casual dining restaurant. Located just east of the I-15 off the Bernardo Center Drive exit, The Barrel Room is the answer to those elegantly casual nights where wine, friends, and great food come together in perfect harmony.
Once you have experienced The Barrel Room’s delightful menu, the warm, friendly staff, and world-class wine selections, you will know why we have become one of the most popular dining destinations in all North County. Let The Barrel Room show you the way the world of wine should be with New World attitude and Old World style.
I contacted The Barrel Room to see if a bridal shower was even a possibility. They replied fast and courteous with an email that answered all of my random questions. The one thing I could recommend to anyone planning a party or special event, is to go with a place that is responsive! If they can answer your questions in a reasonable fashion, then you know that they will organize and follow through with a wonderful event for you!
The Barrel Room has a beautiful patio that faces the backside of the courtyard. I had 25 guests at the bridal shower and the patio fit us perfectly. We had two long tables, with the bride-to-be at one end. There was more than enough room to mingle, eat the fabulous appetizers, get a refill of the fabulous wines or take a gander at the fun bridal shower games we had planned.
For the menu, I worked closely with The Barrel Room for recommendations based on size of the appetizers, and how many each served. Their suggestions were spot on and so helpful! For the main courses, we chose 4 items off of their menu: Steak Sandwich, La Jolla Salad, Chicken Panini and Roasted Vegetable Panini. Each sandwich was served with a side option of fruit or fries. The fries were amazing- I am still dreaming of them!
Here is a look at the menu we used. The Barrel Room had the napkins all ready for us to wrap when we got there to set up:
We had three separate tables set up; one for appetizers, one for gifts and one for desserts. The Barrel Room also had a server pouring our delicious wines and champagne for each guest. Loved the friendly, personalized service.
We served Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noir, Tolosa Chardonnay, Starry Night Petit Syrah, and Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. My fave was the Gloria Ferrer. I made friends with Gloria and will be enjoying that wine again soon.
If you are interested in visiting The Barrel Room, they are having a special Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch on Sunday, May 11th at 11:00am. The brunch will feature a special five course brunch menu which is paired perfectly with five high-end bubbly’s from France and California. The price for this event is only $80 per guest– A steal for a special day for mom!
